The Best-Selling Author Whose Books Captivate And Inspire

Douglas Cavanaugh is an American expat who has lived in Croatia for nearly thirty years. He is originally from Iowa. Before moving abroad in the mid-1990s, he spent several years living and working in rural communities in the northeast part of the Hawkeye State.

“Continental Croatia has many similarities to northeast Iowa,” the author explains. “I feel at home whenever I leave the Adriatic coast and visit the country’s interior. Countless villages dot the countryside and small farms and vineyards cover the landscape. The food, scenery, and easy pace remind me of my home state.”

Douglas started writing as a hobby in 2003. “Between 1996-2002, I traveled a lot internationally. I began reading spy thrillers and action-adventure novels to help pass the time in transit. Soon, I became inspired by many books I’d read, most of which were written by well-known authors such as Vince Flynn, Robert Ludlum, and Clive Cussler. I decided to write a novel which would equal in quality those I’d read and once started, I never stopped searching for new ideas.”
